Solar pool lights are extremely simple to use and require no electricity, so they’re economical too. They come as a sealed unit, normally a globe or saucer shape, containing a rechargeable battery, an LED bulb – various colors are available – and a solar panel. The solar cell will store the sun’s energy during the day and use it to power the bulb during the night. They will automatically turn on at dusk and you should get around 8 hours of light. Some models have the facility to anchor the light to a weight, which can be very useful for using them in a pond or fountain.
Various manufacturers offer lights which change color, continuously cycling through a range of colors by using different LEDs.
